These areas can also be viewed as strongly interconnected. For example, an electric vehicle combines electrical machines, power electronics, batteries, sensors, embedded electronics, CAN communication, control systems, thermal systems and mechanical drivetrain components. An industrial robot combines motors, servo drives, mechanics, encoders, sensors, control, electronics, industrial networks and machine vision. A smart automated factory combines all of these again through PLCs, robotics, industrial communication, IoT, electrical power systems and condition monitoring.
